BOSTON (AP) - Boston College coach Tom O'Brien slumped back in his chair and threw up his hands. He was just happy to escape with a win, and he certainly didn't have the energy to think about who will play quarterback against third-ranked Virginia Tech.
"I've had enough. I'm dead," he told reporters after a 35-30, last-minute victory over Wake Forest. "It was an ugly situation, a very ugly situation; that's all I can say about it. We survived to play in two weeks. We can go play Tech."
Backup quarterback Matt Ryan came off the bench with 3 1/2 minutes left on Saturday to rally Boston College from a 30-21 deficit and beat Wake Forest. It was the third consecutive year that the game between the teams was settled in the final minutes.
