BAGH, Pakistan (AP) - A small cigarette shop opened its shutters Sunday, one of the first stores in Bagh to open since last week's earthquake. Nearby a couple of fruit sellers carefully perched crates of bananas and apples on the rubble.
Street after street of the city bazaar was in ruins and the military sent in bulldozers to clear a walkway. Until Sunday some streets had been completely closed by the toppled buildings.
A three-story shopping center had collapsed onto itself; a sign was all that remained of a nearby restaurant; brightly colored garlands of paper flowers hung from the twisted beams of a store that had once catered to couples planning their weddings.
