HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Diversified manufacturer United Technologies Corp. said Tuesday third-quarter profit rose 19 percent from growth across almost all its businesses, particularly at its Carrier division, and raised its outlook for the year.
Net income grew to $821 million, or 81 cents per share, for the three months ended Sept. 30 from $693 million, or 68 cents per share, a year ago. Results included about $50 million in restructuring costs. In August, United Technologies acquired Rocketdyne Propulsion & Power from Boeing Co. for $700 million.
"UTC's third-quarter performance again demonstrated the strength of our growth model," James Geisler, vice president of finance, said during a conference call with analysts. "The businesses are executing and our global markets are robust."
