NEW YORK (AP) - Illinois Tool Works Inc. said Wednesday its third-quarter profit jumped 24 percent, boosted by revenue growth and unexpectedly high leasing and investment income.
The Glenview, Ill.-based tool maker said net income rose to $408.2 million, or $1.43 a share, for the period ended Sept. 30. That compares with the prior year's $330.1 million, or $1.09 a share.
Revenue rose 10 percent to $3.26 billion from $2.97 billion, with improvements at both the engineered products and specialty systems businesses.
