LOS ANGELES (AP) - Rookie Jason LaBarbera made 29 saves, and Mike Cammalleri, Luc Robitaille and Craig Conroy scored goals in the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Tuesday night.
The Kings won the first of eight meetings this season between the Southern California rivals without Jeremy Roenick, sidelined by groin and hamstring injures. Their 7-2-0 start is their best since 1990-91, when they finished 46-24-10 and won a division title before losing in the second round of the playoffs.
LaBarbera improved to 5-0, matching the best start by a goalie in Kings history. Daniel Berthiaume won his first five decisions in 1990-91 as Kelly Hrudey's backup. LaBarbera has yet to allow more than two goals in any start, and has stopped 126 of 132 shots.
