PHOENIX (AP) - Phelps Dodge Corp. said profit in the latest quarter rose from a year earlier, bolstered by strong demand for both copper and molybdenum.
The Phoenix-based mining and metal processing company on Thursday said it earned $366.1 million, or $3.61 a share, on revenue of $2.36 billion in the third quarter.
Latest results included environmental provisions, debt extinguishment costs and other charges totaling $75.8 million, or 75 cents a share.
