PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A television reporter who covered the Oregon Legislature said he has resigned because of a personal relationship with a state lawmaker who recently announced her resignation after being charged with drug possession.
Eric Mason told The Oregonian that he was forced to quit his job at KATU-TV, an ABC affiliate, after reports of a personal relationship with Rep. Kelley Wirth, D-Corvallis. He said he did not have an affair with her and has hired a lawyer to pursue a breach-of-contract claim against the station.
KATU-TV declined to comment; Wirth did not return calls seeking comment.
