LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Dodgers are "making considerable progress" in their search for a new general manager, but wouldn't elaborate beyond that Wednesday.
"There are a number of highly qualified candidates for the general manager's position, and no shortage of people who have expressed interest," the team said in a statement. "All this will remain a confidential process. We are making considerable progress."
The Dodgers' GM job became vacant Saturday when Paul DePodesta was fired after less than two years on the job. DePodesta signed a five-year contract in February 2004 shortly after Frank McCourt purchased the team from News Corp.
