ROME (AP) - Foreign security agents will be barred from carrying firearms during the Turin Olympics except in special circumstances.
The only possible exceptions will be for agents protecting VIP visitors, Francesco Tagliente, director of the Interior Ministry's Public Order Office, said Thursday.
The department is coordinating security for the 2,500 athletes, 5,000 officials and 1 million spectators expected for the Feb. 10-26 Olympics.
