DURBAN, South Africa (AP) - South Africa's former deputy president was indicted on a corruption charge Friday in a scandal involving his financial adviser and two French arms companies.
Jacob Zuma, who had been seen as President Thabo Mbeki's successor, was fired in June after being implicated in the scandal involving his financial adviser and friend, Schabir Shaik.
The case has divided the governing African National Congress and thrown wide open the question of who will succeed Mbeki when he completes his second term in 2009.
