Shoulder Problems End Clemson QB's Streak

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson quarterback Charlie Whitehurst missed his first start since 2002 after a sore right throwing shoulder ended his 37-game streak Saturday against Duke.

Backup Will Proctor started for the Tigers.

Whitehurst said this week that pain in his shoulder had bothered him since before a 16-13 overtime loss to Boston College on Sept. 24. The fifth-year senior said he has occasionally missed practices to rest the shoulder, but an MRI exam ruled out rotator cuff damage.
