PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A salesman who sold the insulating foam involved in a deadly nightclub fire said it was his company's policy not to warn customers the material was flammable, according to newly filed court documents.
The allegation could support the club owners' claims that they didn't know the foam they had used as soundproofing on the ceiling and walls would burn.
Brothers Jeffrey and Michael Derderian are charged with 200 counts of involuntary manslaughter accusing them of negligence and violating fire code. The fire broke out Feb. 20, 2003, when a band's pyrotechnics set the foam ablaze and quickly spread through The Station nightclub, killing 100 people.
