Wal-Mart Expects 3-5 Percent Nov. Growth

Saturday, November 12, 2005 4:20:50 PM

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) - For the second week of November, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said that it expects its same-store sales will grow at the company's previous estimate of 3 to 5 percent for the month compared to November last year.

The world's largest retailer saw food sales exceed general merchandise this week, most notably in the South, Southwest and West, the company said Saturday on its Web site.

The company also reported that as of Saturday morning, ten of its locations were closed because of recent hurricanes. One Wal-Mart was closed because of Hurricane Wilma and one Supercenter was closed because of Hurricane Rita. Eight locations remained closed due to Hurricane Katrina, including five Supercenters, one Sam's Club, and two Wal-Mart stores.
