DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) - India said Saturday it would not remove its troops from the Kashmir frontier, telling Pakistan that militants are using the chaos following the recent South Asia quake to cross over into the Indian portion of the disputed region.
New Delhi says the militants regularly cross the frontier from Pakistan, either with the connivance of Pakistani troops or with their tacit approval. Islamabad denies the charge.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met his Pakistani counterpart, Shaukat Aziz, on the sidelines of a regional summit and told him the infiltration has not abated despite the Oct. 8 quake, Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran said.
