SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah quarterback Brian Johnson will miss the rest of the season after injuring his left knee during a run late in the fourth quarter of the Utes' 31-27 loss to New Mexico on Saturday night.
Johnson kept the ball on fourth-and-16 with 1:44 remaining and ran 12 yards before being forced out of bounds and injuring his the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee.
Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said after the game that Johnson won't play against rival Brigham Young next week, when Utah (5-5, 3-4 Mountain West) will have one final chance to become eligible for a bowl.
