Iowans Recovering From Rare Nov. Tornadoes

(AP Photo/Steve Pope)WOODWARD, Iowa (AP) - State agencies and relief organizations were on the job Monday helping Iowans clear away wreckage and resume their lives following weekend tornadoes that ravaged small towns and killed one woman.

Stratford, a town of 750 residents, and Woodward, population 1,200, were the hardest hit by the rare November twisters.

Officials said at least 40 homes were destroyed in Woodward, along with as many as 30 in and around Stratford. Authorities said at least nine tornadoes raked the state Saturday.
