SAUSALITO, Calif. (AP) - Weightlifter Shannon Hartnett, suspended for two years after testing positive for steroids, denied using banned substances.
The 40-year-old Hartnett suggested cortisone might have sabotaged her results, and disputes a finding released last week by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency that she tested positive for metabolites of stanozolol, a long-banned steroid.
She was tested May 7 at the U.S. Weightlifting championships in Cleveland. Hartnett said Friday that she took a cortisone shot to treat a shoulder injury.
