Ethiopian Women Seek News of Missing Men

Monday, November 14, 2005 2:31:00 PM
By ANTHONY MITCHELL

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) - Each day hundreds of women gather at the Red Cross office in the Ethiopian capital, some holding photos or identification cards of missing husbands and sons.

Zinash Kebede, pain etched into her face, was searching for her younger brother, Sisay, seized by police in a late-night raid in the first days of the violence that began Nov. 1 amid protests over disputed May elections. He has not been heard from.
