NEW YORK (AP) - The Fulton Fish Market, a Lower Manhattan fixture for 180 years, began operating out of a new facility Monday, leaving behind its smelly historic home for a gleaming refrigerated hub in the Bronx.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg toured the $85 million New Fulton Fish Market, touting the 600 jobs it brought to the borough.
The old market, the center of the city's seafood industry, closed Friday. For many employees, it was the only place they had ever worked.
