BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Former Gov. Buddy Roemer says elected officials largely failed Louisiana residents during Hurricane Katrina and that, so far, Gov. Kathleen Blanco has produced more news conferences than action.
Roemer made his comments Friday during a panel discussion hosted by the Council for a Better Louisiana, a group that focuses on public policies.
The former governor, who served from 1988 to 1992, said he did not want to be overly critical of Blanco, but more ideas and action were needed by the administration.
