SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - Pilots striking for higher pay at Korean Air, the world's largest cargo airline, and management will hold their first talks Friday since the two-day long walkout began, the union and company said Friday.
The company, also South Korea's largest passenger carrier, and pilots union will meet Friday at 3 p.m. (0600 GMT), Park Byung-ryul, the union's spokesman, told Dow Jones Newswires. The airline also confirmed the planned negotiations.
The sign of progress came as the South Korean government expressed concern over the walkout's economic impact. The government used special emergency powers earlier this year to force an end to a 25-day strike at No. 2 carrier Asiana Airlines.
