TOKYO (AP) - Japanese stocks edged higher Friday morning as the market bounced back from an early loss after the government announced a downward revision of third quarter economic growth figures. The U.S. dollar rose against the yen.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 35.99 points, or 0.24 percent, to 15,219.35 points at the end of morning trading on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Stocks took a hit after the government reported that the country's economy grew at an annual pace of 1 percent in the July-September quarter, down from a preliminary figure of 1.7 percent.
