FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) - Economic research institute DIW said Monday that growth in Germany picked up slightly during the fourth quarter because of increased demand from abroad.
The Berlin-based institute raised its forecast for fourth-quarter gross domestic product growth to 0.4 percent on the quarter from its previous 0.3 percent projection.
"Export growth and investment spending have accelerated in the course of this year. As a result, growth in the fourth quarter is likely to be 0.4 percent on the quarter, adjusted for seasonal and working-day effects," the institute said.
