NYC Police Call Off Search for Cab Driver

NEW YORK (AP) - Police scuba divers searched unsuccessfully on Monday for a cab driver who drove his car into the Hudson River on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Police said a parks officer had asked the unidentified man to move his livery cab from an area near West 69th Street and the Henry Hudson Parkway at about noon before he drove it off a pier and into the water.

The car was registered to a cab company in New Jersey, police said.
