Goldman Sachs Unit to Improve Operations

TOKYO (AP) - An investment operations unit of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in Japan said Thursday it will work to improve its operations following an order by Japan's financial watchdog.

The Financial Services Agency rebuked Goldman Sachs Asset Management earlier this week for errors in processing stock orders that resulted in numerous legal violations.

The company violated financial transaction laws several times from June 2002 to June 2004, said Taro Moruzumi, a spokesman for GS Asset Management.
