ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) - Until this week, few people had probably heard of Rod Marinelli outside of Tampa Bay. The new Detroit Lions coach will have a chance to make a name for himself with his no-nonsense approach, piercing eyes and firm tone.
"I've got confidence. I don't need anybody else to instill that confidence in me," the Vietnam veteran said Thursday. "I feel very strong. I know who I am."
Marinelli already reminds Lions president Matt Millen of some of the game's coaching greats when he speaks.
