MENTOR, Ohio (AP) - Steris Corp., a maker of sanitizing lotions and soaps, said Monday that it is shutting down the manufacturing operations of a western Pennsylvania plant and moving 450 jobs to Mexico by the summer of 2007.
The plant in Erie, Pa., makes sterilization equipment and employs 670 people, including 450 who work in manufacturing. The rest of the jobs, which serve in a variety of functions, will stay in Erie.
Steris said it expects the move to save it $20 million a year.
