ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Right-handed reliever Travis Harper avoided arbitration with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, agreeing Monday to an $850,000, one-year contract.
Harper went 4-6 with a 6.75 ERA last season, leading the Devil Rays' bullpen with 73 1-3 innings pitched in 52 games. He made $745,000.
In six seasons with Tampa Bay, he's appeared in 210 games — second-most in club history behind Esteban Yan's 266 — and is 20-29 with a 4.94 ERA.
