ST. LOUIS (AP) - One of the no-name players the St. Louis Blues called up to replace the top two scorers they traded helped them get over another depressing day for the franchise.
Rookie Lee Stempniak, summoned from Peoria of the AHL on Sunday, scored the tying goal and then got the winner in the fifth round of a shootout for a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Flames on Monday night.
"Everyone wants to be a clutch player and I was happy to be out there, but I was a little bit nervous," Stempniak said. "I'd been 0-for-the-shootout so far in Peoria and I was just happy it went in."
