Friday, February 03, 2006 8:12:53 AM

TOKYO (AP) - Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp., Japan's largest telecom company, said Friday its net profit in the nine months to December dropped 32 percent, dented by continued declines in income from its fixed-line business.

NTT said its net profit fell to 477.77 billion yen ($4.03 million) from 698.45 billion yen a year earlier.

Group sales edged down 0.9 percent to 7.916 trillion yen ($66.82 billion) from 7.988 trillion yen in fiscal 2004. NTT did not break down quarterly numbers.
