HEERENVEEN, Netherlands (AP) - Motherhood is more often the death knell of a sporting career than a harbinger of Olympic medals. Not for speedskater Svetlana Zhurova.
The 34-year-old Russian is the proud mother of a 2-year-old child and has never skated faster in her life. She recently won the biggest title of her long career to prove it, and the new world sprint champion is a favorite for the 500- and 1,000-meter titles at the Turin Olympics.
