FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A woman pleaded guilty to murder in the death of a 77-year-old retired college professor in a plea deal that spared her a possible death sentence.
Kathleen "Kitty" Latimer, 41, was sentenced to life in prison Monday as part of the deal with Tarrant County prosecutors, who had no physical evidence linking her to the 2004 death of Laura Lee Crane.
"She really hated pleading guilty to a life sentence I would, too but she finally decided that was the best thing for her," said her attorney, Danny Burns.
