WASHINGTON (AP) - Negotiations involving the United Auto Workers, General Motors Corp. and Delphi Corp. have made little progress on the restructuring of Delphi, a UAW vice president said Tuesday.
"The differences between the parties are huge. They're not minor differences. They're not small differences. They're huge differences," UAW Vice President Richard Shoemaker said.
Shoemaker, speaking to union members at a legislative conference in Washington, said that unless the three parties settle, a federal bankruptcy judge would likely throw out the union's labor agreement with the nation's largest auto supplier, which could lead to a strike.
