CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) - South Africa plans five new stadiums for the 2010 World Cup, including an all-weather 68,000-seat venue in downtown Cape Town.
Organizers also intend to use five refurbished stadiums for soccer's showcase, which will be played in Africa for the first time.
Essop Pahad, a cabinet minister and member of South Africa's organizing committee, said Tuesday the decision to build a new stadium had been made following talks with FIFA, according to the South African Press Association.
