BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Center Daniel Briere will postpone his return to the Sabres until after the Olympics while he recovers from sports hernia surgery.
The Buffalo co-captain had surgery in December. He has missed 21 games and began practicing with the team this week, hoping to return this weekend. Coach Lindy Ruff said he'd prefer Briere have a few extra weeks to recover.
"Doctor just said it would be smarter to hold off until after the break," Briere said Wednesday. "Yes, I'm disappointed about having to wait an extra three weeks. But at the same time I know it's probably the best decision to make at this point."
