DIXON, Ill. (AP) - A teenager who was killed and dismembered picked the wrong schoolmate as a friend, prosecutors said Wednesday as a murder trial got under way.
Adrianne Reynolds was 16 and had just moved to East Moline from Longview, Texas, about two months earlier. She was trying to fit in at a new school when she got to know Sarah Kolb, prosecutors said.
On Jan. 21, 2005, the two girls were in Kolb's car at a fast-food restaurant when they got into a fight over a boy. Prosecutors say Kolb and a teenager boy who was in the car with them killed Reynolds, then later burned and dismembered her body and hid the remains in two counties.
