NEW YORK (AP) - News Corp. reported a sharply higher second-quarter profit Wednesday on an asset sale and improving results in its Fox broadcast network and cable network programming, which includes the Fox News Channel.
The media conglomerate controlled by Rupert Murdoch earned $1.08 billion in the three months ended in December, up from $386 million in the same period a year ago. That was equivalent to 35 cents per Class A non-voting share versus 14 cents in the year-ago period.
Revenue edged up 1.6 percent to $6.67 billion.
