ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - A discordant string quartet's decision to dismiss its violinist six years ago will cost them about $500,000, but not the use of their instruments.
After years of feuding and court battles, members of the Audubon String Quartet reached a settlement with violinist David Ehrlich. The agreement, announced this week, must still be approved by a bankruptcy judge.
Under the settlement, cellist Clyde T. Shaw and his wife, violist Doris Lederer, will give Ehrlich proceeds from the sale of their Blacksburg home; $200,000 from the sale of their instruments and bows; and $59,000 from their retirement fund.
