ST. LOUIS (AP) - An energy company whose mountaintop reservoir ruptured in December, injuring a family of five and sweeping their home away, announced a settlement with the family Tuesday. The terms were not disclosed.
Jerry and Lisa Toops were at home of Dec. 14 when the reservoir collapse at an Ameren Corp. hydroelectric plant sent more than a billion gallons of water rushing down the side of a mountain in the Ozarks. Jerry Toops is superintendent at a state park.
The family suffered hypothermia, breathing problems and other injuries.
