COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) - Danish brewer Carlsberg A/S said Tuesday its fourth-quarter earnings dropped 1 percent as higher costs for beer production and distribution watered down a 5.6 percent sales growth.
Carlsberg said it was closing the brewery located at its headquarters in Copenhagen and laying off about 240 employees there.
The company in September announced plans to close 14 breweries, including the one in Copenhagen, in an effort to streamline its production on the continent.
