KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - A Marine pilot was rescued Tuesday after ejecting from his fighter jet as it crashed into coastal waters, authorities said.
The single-seat F/A-18 Hornet crashed about 5 p.m. during a routine training mission, officials said. The pilot was plucked from the water by a Navy helicopter. He was hospitalized in good condition late Tuesday.
The cause of the crash was being investigated, said Capt. Sarah Kansteiner, a Marine Corps spokeswoman.
