NEW YORK (AP) - The U.S. dollar rose against the 12-nation euro on Wednesday after a report showed a jump in consumer prices, signaling that more interest rate increases by the U.S. Federal Reserve could be in the offing.
In afternoon New York trading, the euro was at $1.1900, down from $1.1916 late Tuesday. The dollar bought 118.51 Japanese yen, down from 118.70 yen the previous day, and the British pound dropped to $1.7425 from $1.7460 in New York.
The dollar bought 1.3116 Swiss francs, up from 1.3075 late Tuesday and 1.1486 Canadian dollars, up from 1.1470.
