NORWALK, Ohio (AP) - An adult daughter of the Ohio couple accused of forcing some of their 11 adopted children to sleep in cages testified Wednesday that she had a miserable childhood that included a lack of food and abuse by her father.
Jenna Gravelle, 31, was a witness for prosecutors trying to persuade a juvenile court judge to place her adopted siblings in the county's permanent care.
Earlier Wednesday, her father and stepmother, Michael and Sharen Gravelle, pleaded not guilty in a separate hearing to child endangerment and other crimes. Their trial was set for Sept. 12. If convicted, they could be sent to prison.
