NEW YORK (AP) - A man convicted of snatching a pistol from a veteran detective and fatally shooting him and his partner was sentenced Wednesday to two life prison terms without parole.
The slayings occurred in September 2004 during a confrontation outside the home of Marlon Legere's mother, who had called police to report on ongoing dispute with him over her car. Legere, 30, was convicted Feb. 2.
The woman testified during trial that she wouldn't let her son use her car because he didn't have a license and she didn't want any more parking tickets.
