MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - John Tofi, UTEP's leading scorer and rebounder, injured his right knee in the first half of Wednesday night's game against No. 4 Memphis and was taken from the court on a stretcher.
Play was delayed about 10 minutes as the 6-foot-8 senior forward remained on the baseline near the Miners' basket as he was treated by medical staff from both schools. UTEP said Tofi sprained his right knee and he was not expected to return.
Memphis was leading 18-15 and pressing the Miners when a pass was thrown long down the sideline for Tofi. He went up to catch the ball like a wide receiver and started limping after coming down.
