DALLAS (AP) - Mavericks forward Josh Howard left Thursday night's game against Memphis with a sprained right ankle. Howard had X-rays taken at halftime and did not return. The extent of the injury wasn't known.
Howard rolled his ankle while playing defense when he got his feet tangled with teammate Keith Van Horn with 1:18 left in the first quarter. He was helped off the court and taken to the locker room, but returned to the game just more than two minutes into the second quarter.
After making 3-of-5 shots for 7 points in the first quarter, Howard was 0-for-2 in the second quarter before leaving for good.
