NEW YORK (AP) - Pfizer Inc. CEO Henry McKinnell's total compensation fell 22 percent last year as the company's board of directors more closely tied his incentives to the company's performance, according to the company's Proxy statement released Friday.
McKinnell's compensation totaled $15.9 million in 2005, including a salary of $2.3 million, a bonus of $3.7 million and stock options worth $4.5 million. The total also includes performance bonus shares, pension accrual, a saving plan and other benefits such as an investment adviser and car and driver.
One reason McKinnell's compensation dropped was because his bonus fell from $3.98 million to $3.7 million. He also received 172,920 shares worth $5.5 million. That's down from $265,00 shares he received worth $9.8 million in 2004.
