SYDNEY, Australia (AP) - Harry Seidler, the Austrian-born architect whose modernist designs inspired both awe and anger, has died from complications following a stroke, a friend said Friday. Seidler was 82.
"He had a very severe stroke (last April) and he never recovered," said friend and business associate John Hurst.
Seidler, recognized as one of Australia's most significant modern architects, designed a number of landmark tower buildings and private residences during his career. One of his most controversial projects was Blues Point Tower, a monolithic apartment building that some said marred views of Sydney's famed harbor.
