Saint Joseph's Prevails in NIT's 1st Round

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Rutgers coach Gary Waters announced more than two weeks ago that he was resigning at the end of the season. He still found it tough to say goodbye on Thursday night.

The Waters era officially came to an end when the Scarlet Knights were beaten by Saint Joseph's 71-62 in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.

Waters was hired in 2001 and finished his tenure at Rutgers with a 79-75 record.
