LONDON (AP) - Aviva PLC, Britain's largest insurance company, said Tuesday it is not ruling out increasing its offer of 17 billion pounds ($30 billion) for Prudential PLC.
Aviva made the bid public Monday as part of its attempts to win over Prudential, which has rejected the offer as not in the best interests of its shareholders.
In a brief regulatory statement Tuesday that it said was a response to a request from the Takeover Panel and market speculation, Aviva said that it had not ruled out an increase in the offer price. It made no further comment on its approach.
